Payment terminal case

This terminal combines a phone and a payment device in one object. There are many integrated payment solutions for phones, but they are not as secure, and customers may not feel as confident entering their card details on a phone.
This bundle pairs a phone, running your booking and ordering software, with a payment terminal on the back for checkout.
Setups like those used by Apple Store staff are too bulky and don’t let you use or charge the phone and terminal separately.
The brand has a strong identity, with black terminals and a three-colour keypad, so we worked on blending the terminal with the back of the phone as much as possible. The silver outline is a contrasting element that separates the front and back and gives each its own identity. On the front, there’s space for custom numbering, since most restaurants number their terminals.
Form challenges
-
Blending the phone and the terminal. A full 12 mm (½ in) separated the two planes. The chamfer on the camera ring helped tie everything together.
-
Overall thickness. The clip mechanism added 3 mm. Both devices can also be charged at the same time, which meant integrating an extra circuit board.
