This payment terminal stand was created for the Korean market, where accessibility laws are more advanced than in many countries.
Korea guarantees access to essential services for people with visual impairments. To comply, the stand integrates a headphone jack, so users can hear the information on the screen, as well as a braille user guide.
Several USB ports and card readers must also remain accessible and easy to use. The design couldn’t sacrifice any of the main features.
As shown in the following research, there were no expectations on the final form of the support. We’ve explored widely different architectures that would make orienting the display convenient. The true ergonomic issue was positioning the braille in a way that would be accessible for the person that needed it, without blocking access to the card hole.
